A.J. Ponder's Worlds of Adventure

Fantasy adventure

Hi,

I hope you’ve had a lovely week.

This week I've got the exciting Cozy the Day Away sale on. Last time I picked up I think it was nearly a dozen books for 99c or free. So I think it's really worth checking out.

And in other news, I did go for that walk around Pāuatahanui inlet. It's such a pretty walk past the cheerful Camborne boat sheds. And I did find that poem from NZ poet Poet Sam Hunt. He's not my favourite poet, but it's so cool having the poem Of Dan and the Peacock there, painted on the wall for everyone to enjoy as they walk past.

My writing:

The Clockwork Dragon (working title) is now 47,000 words.

I just wrote the final scene for Capro, which is fun because just like the beginning bridges between The Sylvalla Chronicles and this series, the end bridges between this series and The Dragon Society Papers. I still have a couple of end scenes to go as I keep on filling in little gaps and making sure all the cogs are in a row. :) But I am looking forward to doing a mid editing run soon before moving back to (working title) Mostly Armless, now that I finally know how Capro and Torri feel about each other.

This week:

  • Guess what magical creature is on the cover of Into FaerLand and be in to WIN a paperback of The Secret Story!
  • Sorry Dragons Out and About is on hiatus this week but will be back next week.
  • What I'm reading: Traitors Unseen & The Woeling Lass (Inquisitors' Guild) by Dave Dobson
  • Promotions:Fantasy with Mythical Creatures & Fantasy and Science Fiction
  • The cats: Herbert and Maisie

Guess Which Magical Creature

Guess the magical creature that will be on the new cover of Into FaerLand. Either by replying to this email or you can comment on Facebook here.

Also, you don't need to be right to get an entry!

And keep an eye out for the big reveal! It's going to be a little later than I'd hoped because I still need to have the wrap around covers for the paperbacks.

What I'm reading: Traitors unseen & the Woeling Lass (Inquisitors' Guild) by Dave Dobson

Probably the weakest point of view of the four books. But it's a prequel and not as long as the others.

Still great fun, but if you're planning to miss a book in the series, this is the one to miss.

This is a great culmination of the four stories. Great plot. I even realised I'd read it before, and kept reading which never happens! But having read the rest of the series I had way more context around many of the characters, so it was really worthwhile.

All in all very good and enjoyable series with humour, strong plotting, an entertaining voice, and plenty of twists and turns.

Herbert and Maisie

Herbert's having trouble deciding which fluffy is the best, but he's about to make the choice of...why not both?

He's having a tough time, the pesky humans are only giving him special fish in the morning and he wants it all day.

Maisie has found the sleeping bag and an old throw on the spare bed and made herself at home.

I knew I shouldn't have left it out.

But gosh, when she stretches them, her legs are so long! :)

Promotions:Fantasy with Mythical Creatures & Fantasy and Science Fiction

Happy reading!

Fantasy adventure Hi, I have to admit I'm a little exhausted today. I've been cleaning and scrubbing, demolishing shelves and digging out the leaves from between our shed and the retaining wall. Ah, spring and spring cleaning are not my favourite things. But it will be nice to have the shed, which is also the laundry, spick and span so that we can find all tools that are stored there. My writing: The Clockwork Dragon (working title) is getting to 51,000 words—it's not really growing because...

Fantasy adventure Hi, I hope you're enjoying the change in seasons and getting some great weather. I love spring and autumn so much. We've had some lovely days over the last few weeks, so I thought I'd show off a picture of Wellington at night on a delightfully warm evening, to try and forget how cold it is tonight. (It's not that actually that cold, it just feels cold.) My writing: The Clockwork Dragon (working title) is over 50,000 words. I'm about half way through the last pass before it...

Fantasy adventure Hi, I hope you're having a great day and a wonderful week, with plenty of time for reading. And lots of wonderful books. I managed to pick up a couple more books from the Cozy the Day Away sale as one of the hazards of not being in America means I miss out on the special prices. Still, two is better than none! And I'm excited to get to read them. And it was also suggested by a friend that I should read the next Greton's Marvellous Maps book. So far I'm really enjoying it, so...
