A.J. Ponder's Worlds of Adventure

Fantasy adventure

Hi,

I have to admit I'm a little exhausted today. I've been cleaning and scrubbing, demolishing shelves and digging out the leaves from between our shed and the retaining wall. Ah, spring and spring cleaning are not my favourite things. But it will be nice to have the shed, which is also the laundry, spick and span so that we can find all tools that are stored there.

My writing:

The Clockwork Dragon (working title) is getting to 51,000 words—it's not really growing because I'm chopping as much as I'm adding, and thinking about the best ways to bring out the story. Editing huh? I used to really hate it, but now I enjoy rounding out the little details and the characters, and making sure they all have their own feel.

Paperbacks, Bood of the Fae—Into the FaerLand & Into Broceliande are live. Into the Underworld, Into Treachery and Into the DeadLands coming soon.

This week:

  • Dragons Out and About: Hugh-Lee-Yo
  • What I'm reading: Legendary Help Unwanted (Review copy)
  • Promotions: Falling into Fantasy and FREE Epic Sci Fi and Fantasy (Where Worlds Collide)
  • The cats: Herbert and Maisie

Dive into Epic Mythological Fantasy

To celebrate my new covers for Blood of the Fae, I'm doing a massive special with the first two books at 99c and deep discounts through the rest of the series.

Into FaerLand: Fifteen years go, after rescuing Ruby from FaerLand, Ruby’s parents were forced to work in the demon mines of the Underworld. Once upon a time and happily ever after. That’s how the story is supposed to go. But mine ends here, on the banks of the river Lethe. Ruby. If you get this. Take my tears, hear my story. Find me.

Dragons Out and About: hugh-Lee-Yo

Hugh-Lee-Yo has three heads all with very different personalities. Hugh to the left is clever with numbers and has wickedly dark sense of humour, Lee in the middle loves keeping the nest tidy. and Yo to the right is distractable, but can watch a spider spinning their web for hours.

Today they're playing catch the crystal. At least that was the plan, but Hugh and Yo keep getting distracted.

What I'm reading: Legendary Help unwanted

I picked up this review copy a few days ago. And it's still available! (The official release is November 15)

This definitely wasn't the book I thought it was going to be. I thought it would be more cutesy, but it was more adventure focused and a lot of fun. The hero is horribly burned out and teams up with a fairy with a real chip on his shoulder.

Good world building with some really innovative touches.

Herbert and Maisie

Herbert snuggling up earlier in the day. He's on my lap right now. He so loves his people, especially in the evening.

But although he looks very sweet here, he was very naughty yesterday, chasing Maisie behind the shed. It would be nice if they got on a little better, but we have little work arounds like separate bowls at different ends of the house

Maisie come to check on me photographing dragons.

You can just see Hugh-Lee-Yo under her summer ruff. Yes, she's already losing that glorious winter coat.

Promotions: Mythical creatures and Free!

There are some great authors here, Layla K Wood: Saved by Fae, Patty Jandsen: Innocence Lost and more

Happy reading!

Fantasy adventure Hi, I hope you're enjoying the change in seasons and getting some great weather. I love spring and autumn so much. We've had some lovely days over the last few weeks, so I thought I'd show off a picture of Wellington at night on a delightfully warm evening, to try and forget how cold it is tonight. (It's not that actually that cold, it just feels cold.) My writing: The Clockwork Dragon (working title) is over 50,000 words. I'm about half way through the last pass before it...

Fantasy adventure Hi, I hope you're having a great day and a wonderful week, with plenty of time for reading. And lots of wonderful books. I managed to pick up a couple more books from the Cozy the Day Away sale as one of the hazards of not being in America means I miss out on the special prices. Still, two is better than none! And I'm excited to get to read them. And it was also suggested by a friend that I should read the next Greton's Marvellous Maps book. So far I'm really enjoying it, so...

Fantasy adventure Hi, I hope you’ve had a lovely week. This week I've got the exciting Cozy the Day Away sale on. Last time I picked up I think it was nearly a dozen books for 99c or free. So I think it's really worth checking out. And in other news, I did go for that walk around Pāuatahanui inlet. It's such a pretty walk past the cheerful Camborne boat sheds. And I did find that poem from NZ poet Poet Sam Hunt. He's not my favourite poet, but it's so cool having the poem Of Dan and the...
